I am experimenting with Ivory Black and Titanium White oil paints.
I start with thin paint and move it around using a brush or a rag.
I continue to add or subtract paints(using mineral spirits) while working on
my composition. Later I use a palette knife applying thicker
sections for texture and variety.
Instead of canvas I am using "Frosted Mylar" which is a thin plastic sheet.
I really enjoy the way I am able to manipulate the paint
and the range of grays I can obtain. I think the contrast between
and the range of grays I can obtain. I think the contrast between
the white and black is striking. In the next few weeks I hope to become better
acquainted with this technique.
